Dune Part 2 was officially announced - with release

Dune gets the hoped-for second part, which stood a long time on the sandy cant. For this purpose, the Science Fitting Filmepos had to rinse a lot of money into the cinocases - and that s what happened now.

It is a good day for cinema lovers: Denis Villeneuves Image-effective Science Fiction epic Dune gets green light for a second part (Source: Twitter). While the cinemas are still filling their ranks with Dune, everyone has been clear after the cinema visit at the latest: this is just the beginning of a much greater history. In fact, director Villeneuve filmed in the almost three-hour movie only half of the first Dune book. A second part is more or less required to bring at least the whole book on the big screen.

Overall, there are six Dune books, which were all written by the award-winning Science Fiction author Frank Herbert. The first three are considered essential by many fans. So Villeneuve has enough material for even more than just two movies, it should come to it.

A small recommendation: You get a fantastic impression of Dune Part 2, if you are the first book of Frank Herbert Lest. Meanwhile, Villeneuve has already roughly explained what his plans for the next Dune film are : The mysterious chani (played by Zendaya) should be in focus of the narrative, while Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) Looking for the Fremen.

You can adjust to learn more about the sand folk - and dive deeper into mysticism and Lore of the Dune universe. Some characters that received little screen time in the first film from certainly pragmatic reasons should be more in the focus in the sequel. And as out of several interviews already out, the actors are also on board for a second part like Villeneuve themselves.

Dune Part 2 is expected to appear on 20 October 2023 in the cinemas. Whether this remote release date is kept exactly on the day, no one can certainly say - not director Villeneuve or the film distribution.
