Google is now forcing millions of users to new login

2021 a large Google Change should come. The digital giant wants to focus on greater security when logging in and adjusts the application accordingly.

California — The two-factor authentication when logging in the login is nothing new. Many users know the additional security level when logging in from Facebook, Instagram or other various online accounts. Even on Google, users have been able to activate the higher safety standard for quite some time. In 2021, the US Group now wants to automatically unlock the feature for 150 million accounts. What exactly does the change mean for users with a Google Account?

Google Changes Login: Two-factor authentication comes for 150 million users

Whether for the e-mail mailbox, the social media account or on online banking: usually you have to log in on the internet with a password. However, many people still use insecure passwords — such as the year of birth, the name of the pet or simply a simple number sequence as 1111. Added to that even the same password is used for several accounts.

However, this is a great risk of being chopped. How to show from a current contribution to the Google Blog, that the digital giant has now taken as an opportunity to ensure more security for its users and automatically convert numerous accounts to two-factor authentication. Because this is one of the most reliable methods to prevent unauthorized access to accounts and networks, it continues to be in the blog report.

Big change at Google: Group increases safety when logging in

Already in May 2021 Google had brought the change for the first time, now the plan should be put into action. Even by the end of 2021, the Group wants around 150 million Google accounts with the feature. The exact time of change is not yet known.

User whose account has been changed will receive a query on the smartphone or other mobile device at the next login for the Google Account in addition to the regular password. A message appears that simply needs to be confirmed to prove that you really wanted to log in.

If the message appears, without wanting to log in, because, for example, the password is reached in foreign hands, the request can be rejected — and the potential assault by unauthorized third parties is blocked. Google explains that it is the highest security standard if you combine for the login something you know, so a password, with something you have, so about a phone (more digital news at users).

This year, the Google account of around 150 million users will be automatically equipped with this higher security standard. On the blog, the US Group justifies the forced measure that otherwise only a few users would rely on the feature or only learned about it.

After all, after the two-factor authentication has been automatically activated for every Google user, the Digital Giant still allows its users to disable the security measure again. Everyone should decide in the end for themselves whether you want to enjoy additional protection or not.

To turn off the 2fa, you have to open the Security area in its Google account. Here is the option Confirmation in two steps, which must be deactivated. Google has already begun to provide the first accounts with the higher safety standard until the end of the year 2021 the process should be completed. Then the measure also meets about two million YouTube users.
